We received a delightful surprise at our committee meeting on Wednesday July 16! Mark Kuczera came to our meeting with his wife, Eleanor, so that he could present the BSB Program a $500 donation from the Elizabeth Ann Seton Knights of Columbus. We are extraordinarily grateful to them for their generous donation!

The Blue Star Banner Program of Crystal Lake wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude for a donation from Bethany Lutheran Church. Without the support of community members, we could not continue to purchase the 6’X3’ banners displayed along the section of Rt. 14 officially known as Heroes Row. We offer our deepest thanks for helping support and advance this program to show our community members who serve that we have not forgotten them and are grateful for their service.

As a sponsor of our program, Bethany has made an important contribution to ensure active duty men and women from Crystal Lake are recognized for protecting our country and encouraging the vital role of our military in training our future leaders. The Blue Star Banner Program has become a proud city tradition by displaying banners that underscore the patriotism that makes our nation great. It also acknowledges the important contributions for the greater good of our nation made by the families of these individuals. The recognition of these service members is the city’s way of thanking them for their service and is a reminder to our citizens that we owe these individuals for our continued freedom.

Blue Star Banner Program and the Patriot Run

The Blue Star Banner Program participated in the 2024 Patriot Run held in June at Veterans Acres. It was a wonderful day for the event as the temperature was mild and the turnout was large! Our program had participants in the run as well as a lot of volunteers helping along the race route. We are very grateful to the run organization making us the recipients of a portion of the money raised by this popular event! We look forward to next year’s race and hope to see you there.

We are grateful to Jean Marie Saidler and her team for their generous support and the unfailing encouragement they offer us. JMS is fully behind our mission to honor our active duty military members from Crystal Lake with banners along Heroes Row.
